Bots were used heavily in the past and the community has decided (through experience) it leads to abuse/spam/ low effort rewards farming. This type of abuse/misuse causes the steem blockchain/platform to lose value, credibility and the like. Engage with the community, leave comments, vote on other people's post and stay away from the bots if you can help it. It's not a guarantee, but most likely using bid bots will get you flagged/zero rewards.
