RE: Briar: A messaging experiment
People don't generally seem too interested in securing their privacy and information. One only needs to go to Instgram or Facebook to see that. I am though and I think a few others are too. Hopefully privacy tightens up but companies like Facebook are never going to. In my opinion. Time will tell.
Most people have no idea that this is a problem or think they don't care but cue the tantrums if something unfortunate (or worse still the worst) happens.
I'm pretty surethat Facebook's entire business model revolves around selling data so yeh unlikely XD
You hit the nail on the head right there...
Yes, totally. (Or is it just totes these days?) Lol.
Sticking one's head in the sand doesn't make the issue go away though, or prevent it from happening to the individual. Look what happened to all those celebrities and their images a while back. IT happens every damned day.
We got attacked at work a few years back. The photocopier was plugged directly into the internet rather than running through the server (or some such technical thing) - The Nigerian hackers came in and took everything asking for 5 bitcoins for it back. The company went to the police who said just pay it or you will never get any back...They paid and got about 75% back. Then it cost around $150K to upgrade the system to ensure it didn't happen again, or at least mitigate the chance of it.
The same thing happens daily to individuals, in fact they help the process by posting their lives on FB and Insta etc. Like you say, lack of care-factor or clueless that it can happen. I know not.
