RE: Fly away hair and drive-bys

in OCD6 years ago

Ever since I moved out from my parents, at the age of 18 years I think it was, I have been living in apartments. I bought a house last year and I must say there are a lot of pros. Especially if you like to be creative and need some extra space. I’m trying to turn the entire basement into a mini factory which can give me some extra income, but with a full time job it is taking some time to be realized. But slowly it is moving ahead. Having a garage is pretty golden, and just having your own little space over all is quite important I think.

Of course I have given up a lot of convenience by getting a house. My house is a 20 minute drive from town and work place and I guess here it is considered being the country side. But after living in China, 20 minutes traveling is not a big deal for me. Do you live in Helsinki ?

I used to have space here until our daughter got a bit older and needed more of her own. My space is now a corner of the dining table. We are out if the city a bit so it doesn't change much and as an Australian, travel isn't really an issue.

I live a couple hundred km north of Helsinki in Tampere.

What kind of factory?

Well I got some machines for cutting wood. And then my dad, who lives close by, has a 3D printer and CNC machine. So trying to get some projects going. I used to study industrial design in China, and after graduating I haven’t really done so much designing. Hoping to get back in the game.

That sounds great and I am a bit jealous. I have always wanted to make custom furniture or lights, but have never had the time, space or money :)

Good luck!

It is pretty cool to make your own furniture. Currently i am working on some tealight holders. Once they are finished i will make a post here :)

Nice, looking forward to it.
