DeOcculting Duality #1 Clowns

Clowns have a deep psychological impact on people, especially kids and I think they have a deep and fascinating history that is worth exploring. Personally, I have never been a fan of clowns. It's something to do with the "mask" of all the make-up that they wear and the attempts to distract you from whatever you are trying to do.

The history of clowns dates all the way back to antiquity with roots in Greek history and mythology. Masks were worn by the actors on stage and they would switch them out according to the different characters that they would play.

The comedy and tragedy masks are a well known symbol used by the establishment that put duality into our minds at a subconscious level. They work very hard to keep a person(mask) divided internally (in-divid-ual) and under the Hollywood spell of hypnotic fear.
Think about how many films have used a clown or clown like figure to instill fear into our society on a mass level.

The first one that comes to mind is the clown from the Stephen King film adaptation of "IT".
Pennywise scared the hell out of some kids in America! I think I was about 11 or 12 years old when it was first aired on national TV.

The clown head from the "Saw" film series is another one that left a lasting impression in my mind.

Clowns are associated with the trickster archetype and is represented in the tarot deck by the 0 card which is The Fool. In medieval feudal society, the court jester was probably the only one in the realm that could get away with his life for mocking the king or queen and other courtesans.

The trickster can be full of mirth or just outright duplicitous. Loki is the perfect example of the trickster archetype, as you can never tell if he is being genuine or getting ready to wreak havoc.
Other tricksters are Bugs Bunny, Gollum, Harvey the Rabbit, Bart Simpson, the Donkey from Shrek, and the Coyote in Native American folklore, just to list a few.
Oh, and how could I forget the legendary Joker ?
