Las Bóvedas - French Square, Panama
A prison transformed to a restaurant... This is "Las Bóvedas", a place that is part of Panama's history. It's located at French Square - Old Town, which was built in honor of the French engineers who wanted to build the first Panama Canal. The history is interesting and is written on large plates at the vaults.
To get there, I made a tour together some friends from the famous house of Rubén Blades passing through the "Paseo de Esteban Huertas" in which local vendors offer handicrafts. In my blog I shared the full tour www.smeraldatravel.com
The place is old and beautiful, the wall is pretty worn but I love how everything looks, it's has a vintage style and great contrast to the green areas. There is an obelisk surrounded by busts in honor of the engineers, in the picture we can see two of them. One of the wooden doors is the entrance to the restaurant, it's located close to palm trees that can be seen in this photo.
