INKTOBER Day #3 "BAIT"

It seems that the human body only resists two days of Inktober.

Because I'm just drawing on the third day. I've been late big time, had a severe headache and little free time the next few days, so here I am, trying to catch up with the challenge of shame brother! I only endured two days of Inktober without failing hahahaha.

The theme for day #3 was "bait", so what better bait for a sailor than an attractive mermaid? There are many stories of men who fell for the song of these seductive creatures, only to end up being their rich dinner.

Tools:

  • Opaline Cardboard (A4)
  • Black ballpoint pen
  • Marker Black thick tip
  • Liquid Ink

-Step 1:

With the HB pencil, make a sketch with soft strokes, as these can be erased more easily and prevent the eraser from damaging the paper.

-Step 2:

Then make the lineart, using the black ballpoint pen. This is where I realized something I didn't like at all, the evil proportions were wrong! The siren has more head than body, than horrible xD; the worst thing is that it was already very difficult to correct because the ink can not be erased, but good of the errors is learned.

-Step 3:

Let's fill in. With the black marker, I covered the areas that would be completely black, as well as detailing a little the mermaid's hair (which I didn't like either).

-Step 4:

Finally, I dusted my liquid ink and made some retouches here and there, in order to give a bit of soft shadows, since with the pen they are difficult to get.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

What is inktober?

The inktober is an initiative created by the illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, in order to improve his artistic skills, although over the years has made a great impact on the international artistic community. The challenge is to make a drawing with ink every day, hence its name, "ink" (ink) "tober" (October), although for the most part this is respected, many other artists prefer to stay in their comfort zone, so you can see illustrations made with watercolors, graphite, charcoal, digital and any existing technique.

Thank you guys!

¡Muchas gracias querida @yanes94!
