Provocative portfolio shoot with Chey!

Hey, Steemit. I’m pulling myself away from market watching. Bad habit, especially late at night. Nothing gives me a jolt of adrenaline like watching STEEM, EOS and BitShares skyrocket just as I get in to bed. Not good for the “falling asleep” part. I’m an adrenaline junky, so this craziness just rolls around in my head resulting in my usual 4 - 5 hours of sleep […less depending on how many times I wake up and check my phone]. When I first joined Steemit I wrote a post titled “Am I the only one having stress dreams about Steemit?!”. Almost a year and a half later, and yeah. Still relevant.

Tonight’s photography is a throwback from 2015 when I was hired by a model in my hometown of Scranton, PA. Her name was Chey and she was looking to build her portfolio. I haven’t lived in Northeastern, PA in seven years. I still have family and friends there, so I’m back in town once or twice a year. We found a date that worked for both of us and put it on the calendar. 

Chey had a natural confidence about her modeling. I gathered that she’d shot with a few photographers still in the area and wasn’t impressed with the images she’d received back. This was an opportunity for me to step up and capture her in a strong, provocative and tasteful series of editorial photos. Almost immediately, it was clear we had something. Her camera presence was outstanding and I had a heightened awareness of the natural light pouring in from every window of the apartment.

We shoot a series of photos in the kitchen with sheer curtains that cut the light, creating a soft, golden aura in the room. Chey took excellent direction and we shot another series in the bedroom, slightly darker, with one single yellow rose to offset the dark hardwood floors.

From there, we drove 20 minutes to a friend’s home that allowed us to use his hot tub. As often as possible […and when time permits], I like to shoot a couple locations to give the impression of more than a single shoot. It aides in giving the model’s portfolio the appearance of more than once shoot with the same photographer. This was one of those times. We caught the hot tub location just in the knick of the time as the sun was setting and magic hour light was flooding through the window blinds. Moments photographers dream of.
