The Nonprofit and the cryptocurrency.

What is a nonprofit organization?
A nonprofit organization is a group of people who have a common goal. They gather to increase their power, to act to raise their objectives.

Environmentalist nonprofit like Greenpeace alerts people about the destruction of the environment and fight against private companies who prefer to make profits, whatever their impact on the environment. From a small group of people in 1971, Greenpeace today is present in 40 countries with more than 3 million members and has a 300 million euro annual budget. (source wikipedia). This tremendous development as been possible by the will only of members/donators and the value of their ideas and actions. The value of your work, ideas and the commons is a very important debate, today.

What is a cryptocurrency ?

How could nonprofits benefits from using decentralized cryptocurrencies ?
Nonprofits need both : communication and money.
Members need to communicate between them to organize events and the organization need to inform the members of the actions and the progress toward the objectives. Many nonprofits are already equipped with a blogging platform, mail services, and forum.
Nonprofits need money to recruit new members to implement actions, while the first strenght of a nonprofit is the willingness of their members to reach their objectives, money is an energy that can help attaining the goals of the community.
While the disadvantages of centralized currency are well described, the new solutions are plenty and it is only by trying them hat we can evaluate there advantages and inconvenient.
Duniter is providing a free software that is producing a free decentralized currencies with production of universal dividend. The production of a universal dividend is a pretty nice solution but implementing it on a large scale require a shift in the mentality and the structure of the society that will probably take times.
Pendo is a debt/credit platform where everybody can exchange services or goods.
Steemit is a promizing mix of blogging and decentralized crypto. The redistribution of the wealth is decided by the people who have invested in Steemit (steem white paper).

Nonprofits are building our future.
While government are heavy administrations without creativity, nonprofits are inventing our future by trying new solutions. They promote new ways to live a better life. They walk the way commercial companies do not take because they are not profitable.

Profitability of the commons are difficult to evaluate and life should not have a price. Innovative companies like Steemit are bringing new tools to nonprofits. The meaning of my live is to promote new (or old!) interesting ideas. This post can be used by the nonprofit-trail curators (a new Steemit innovation) to introduce Steemit and cryptocurrencies to the members of the nonprofits.
