The Daily Political Bashings need to stop!!

There isn't a day goes by that we don't have a new "news" report regarding the mental capacity of Donald Trump, or the ability of Malcolm Turnbull and I'm sure in the UK Press there are just as many attacks on Teresa May that frankly are unjust and at some point in history would be labelled Treason.

While I fully support the view that many politicians are in the game for their own betterment, it takes a lot of heart and energy to not only run for a seat, but to also keep it.

I place the blame for the ineptitude of many of our recent politicians in this era of 24/7 news where a Presidents Coke intake is more important than a terrorist attack squarely at the feet of Modern Media.

@tremendospercy did a brilliant post this morning which included an infographic regarding who owns the media and its distribution. Story Here

This current medium and platform that we have here on Steemit will be a perfect platform for real decentralised news to be shared. Going 1 step futher, it would be excellent to see a front end dedicated just to Real News where stories from Percy's newly minted tag #nomorefakenews with solid acceptance ratings can be viewed without sifting through the general feed.

But back to my original point, politicians are criticized and abused day in and day out for everything from the colour suit they were to how often they play golf. None of this helps a country run better. If the modern Media want to cover a story, how about the blatant abuse and criminality within the Australian Trade Unions, or how of the hundreds of children falling through the gaps in foster care only 26 children in NSW were successfully adopted in 2016.

Modern media need to get out of the business of producing rubbish content, and into the business of protecting the country and providing good solid information.

Great stuff Gohba.
Thanks for spreading the mesaage dude.
People are starting to use the tag already, let's hope it catches on. We need Steemit to be the number one place people come to for real news, let us do the work so they don't have to sift through the shit being peddled on the MSM and much of the Internet now.
Well done for using the #nomorefakenews tag.

Also takes a lot of money for a politician to buy and keep the seat... this means lots of "donations" (bribes for political favors) from vested interest.

perhaps in some countries, but I believe in Australia at least anyone can become a politician and there are good examples of some who have come from nothing. What makes me a little angry is how little politicians in general get paid. For example, the Prime Minister of Australia receives less than several heads of department underneath him. How does this incentivize quality candidates to run. Not to mention the most skilled and desirable candidates generally surpass the PM's pay in the private sector so would essentially be taking a HUGE pay decrease to take a term in office. I know people argue that their life time pension makes it all worth it but I strongly disagree.

@nathenial, yes they usually get paid a lot less than the private sector, I don't think politicians do it for money per say. But they make the money in other ways during and after being PM or President... like the Clintons did taking bribes and speaking engagements, this is mostly from U.S. Presidents, but most politicians are sociopaths and on the take.

Yeah but maybe this is a problem? Maybe if better candidates were attracted to the positions salary then we wouldnt be stuck with egocentric men.

I think it falls on the medias gravitation towards tabloid news. They are giving people what they want to hear in order to feel entertained. News should be above this. In my opinion news should relay the hard facts only. In some complicated cases maybe its good to bring in expertise opinions on the matter but not any extremest Jo blow who will blow up that news stations Facebook page with likes.

Just my 2c.

100% agree mate

@samuel-swinton Can you please explain the downvote? It is good practice if you are so strongly offended by a post that you feel the need to flag it, to at least put a comment saying why you felt the need to flag the post.

You mean staging interviews to get the audience to feel one way or the other isn't how the news is supposed to show a story?
