Ulog #11 | Five Insects That Seriously Waow Me...

in #nigeria6 years ago (edited)

So today I just thought of making a little post about insects that i find most fascinating, phenomenon and just a little bit weird. I know this post is weird enough, i mean, why insects? But that's what Ulogs are about... My life, My lifestyle and My weird. Lets get down to the count down already, shall we!? 😁

5. SCORPIONS

Okay okay i am fully aware that scorpions technically ain't insects, rather they are arachnids. But i still wanted to add it to this list because its weird to me. Why you make ask, but did you know that if a scorpion stungs itself, it dies??? Am totally serious (atleast thats what i heard). I think they are supposed to have the antidote to their own poison. I mean, how does the poison stay in their body, yet when stung by it, it kill it?? Totally weird and thats why its on this list.

4. SPIDERS

Spiders are on this list because i think they are really cool and phenomenal. Are you asking me how? Haven't you seen the movie "Spiderman", doesn't that paint a clear picture of how cool spiders are? I mean, where does the webs come from? Inside their stomach? But i have cut a spider in two, experimentally, but didn't see some bunch of pilled up webs in the stomach. Okay i still know spiders invades houses and make them dirty but lets just give them a little credit today...Thanks.

3. FIREFLIES

Seriously, fireflies are simply fascinating and beautiful. They do a great job too lighting up the world sometimes. But my mystery about this insect is quiet an obvious one. How does an insect fly around with light in its stomach? This light we are talking about is natural light, no fuel, no switch...just light and they eat with the same stomach. Actually i caught one, opened the stomach and took out the light. It shone in my hand for a while and the light died out. So probably, the light gets fueled when its inside the insect.

2. BUTTERFLIES

I know fireflies are beautiful but butterflies are the most beautiful set of insects i have ever seen so far on planet earth. They come in about a million different artistic patterns, paintings and designs. Some are actually just transparent... Isn't that just amazing? But one things about butterflies is that when you touch them, just like wet paintings, the designs just wipes out and you can just feel it in your hand. But i think they still end up coming back. Thats if you don't hurt the fly.

1. BEES

Actually i would have loved to have ants on this list too, but since i like them for the same reasons i like bees, i just decided to include bees instead. Bees are just so instinctive and human-like. These are the most organized insects I've even seen. They have Chain of command, division of labour, Hierarchy and Leadership too. Unlike humans, they don't have to fight or have constitutions to obey because they have been genetically built for those specific purposes... There's the Queen, Workers and Drones. They are hardworking too, same as ants.
