Improvements Brought About By #newsteem And How To Inform Investors About Them

in #newsteem5 years ago

#newsteem seems like a gift that keeps on giving. Not only did Trending get cleaned up and it seems that honest curation is up and vote farming is down. The bid bot industry seems to mostly have gone manual.

But something else is happening as well. First Bernie tells us that he's going to give #newsteem a chance and that he's done with his troll wars for now and that he's going to curate more. In the course of my downvoting a little while ago, I managed to irk Honusurf and he effectively told me he was going to feed me some flags. Since then, I noticed that he had actually curated my posts constructively by upvoting the better ones and downvoting those that weren't so good. By doing so he did a favour to Steem by increasing the accuracy of content ranking here. I already had a friendly exchange with him yesterday about that.

What I'm saying is that while I'm sure that #newsteem is not working perfectly, there seems to be an overall improvement in most people's behavior and attitude. What we can at least tentatively conclude from this is that having given the right tools Steemians seem to have begun to assert themselves as a community and successfully at that.

The Steem price does not reflect this, yet. Apparently large purchases here and there have caused bumps in the price but the overall trend is still downwards. What's positive is that the incline is getting less steep and the slope almost seems to have leveled off. The big picture seems to be that the bottom may soon be in. @edicted guessed that the bottom of this bear market would be twice the bottom of the last one. If that is the case, it should be 2x$0.069 or about $0.14.

It's pretty clear that almost nobody out there knows about EIP and how the user community has been galvanized to do their best to give value to Steem. How do you think we should go about marketing STEEM assuming the improvements we have begun to see result in lasting and significant changes for the better? What are the most common misunderstandings about Steem you have encountered among outsiders? How do you think they should be countered?

Sort:

During the last 3 weeks, 2.2 million more Steem Power has been powered up (over 1% increase). The amount of new liquid Steem had also shrunk according to @exyle's powerup statistics, and might start to decrease in the following month if the power up trend keeps on going. Steemit Inc is also stopping their sells for the month which could be a good thing short term to stabilize the price and perhaps give that little push to finally start an uptrend. 14 cents seems like a reasonable guess for the bottom. Anyhow, I'm very confident that with the current trend of more stake being powered up, there is an inevitable bottom for the price.

I know that Steem has actually gotten some publicity with the DAO worker proposal system which apparently is a hot topic in cryptocurrency world atm. The negative tends to stick longer though (everyone still knowing only that 70% of Steemit staff was layed off), but the word will eventually get out there when Steem starts to deliver its vision. Datadash mentioned Steem in his top 10 coins to look for 2020 – 100k views on that video :)
