in #news5 years ago

The social network is raising the number of users affected by this data mismanagement. Initially, Facebook thought they were only a few dozens of thousands.

The info

A month ago, KrebsOnSecurity revealed that Facebook has stored "hundreds of millions Facebook passwords" and "dozens of thousands Instagram passwords" on its servers for years to come. The social network quickly confirmed this in a news release that has just been updated.

Finally, there are millions of Instagram passwords that have been stored in readable, which significantly worsens the case.

"We will be notifying these users as we did the others. Our investigation has determined that these stored passwords were not internally abused or improperly accessed, " says Facebook.

What does this entail

Storing in a readable format the millions of users’ passwords is a shame, especially for a technology company like Facebook. Impacted users should update their password and activating dual authentication as quickly as possible.

The context

Yesterday we learned that Facebook had imported the contacts of 1.5 million users without their authorization in 2016, "unintentionally".

No more than a week goes without anyone having to deal with a security or personal data protection problem on Facebook. This gives the impression of a drunk boat where no one really knows what's going on (except Mark Zuckerberg I suppose…)

As usual, Facebook remains faithful to its conduct line more than doubtful. Privacy is an utopia with Facebook, we have to accept it and to go further to a massive decentralization!

Ah, classic Facebook and its "unintentional" mistakes. For a billion dollars company, they sure are doing a horrible job in keeping private information safe.

Our information make them earn a lot of money, much more than the fines that they sometimes have....
Just as Banks say: Worth it

I have many times said ... get out of there, just don't use it anymore...this all what you need to do. When you not use it, then they not get more are privet info and also not to sell it, where they put 100% sold profits into there own pocket. And then they say they not know nothing.

JUST DON'T USE IT ANYMORE
