A Chinese surgeon has chosen to stick to his post and operate on patients after suffering from acute appendicitis at work.
Liang Fuqun, in eastern China, endured severe pain and successfully completed nine consecutive operations on June 24.
Liang decided to carry on working because he said his patients were more important.
To help him focus on the surgery, his colleagues gave him pain-killing injections twice during the operations.

After the challenging shift, his colleagues gave Liang a checkup. It's said that he had to bear so much pain his shirt was totally soaked with sweat.
His colleagues found out he suffered from acute appendicitis and his inflamed appendix had burst.
Liang was sent to an operating theatre himself to undergo surgery as a patient.
According to the Party committee of Si County in China's Anhui Province, Liang works at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Si County People's Hospital.
He apparently started feeling pain in the abdomen in the morning, but he thought it might be because he had caught a cold during a previous night shift.
His colleague gave him another injection to help...
