Personally, I haven't been able to watch tv news in years (I prefer the alternative news) I believe all the poor journalism began when 24/7 news came out. I mean really, what can you report 24/7 before you start to bore your audience (hence why they drive us nuts when something interesting actually happens) sooo journalists started fabricating stories.

I think you are onto something, 24/7 definitely advanced the fake news, but I think there was disinfo before then with Vietnam and the War on Drugs, there is real news they choose not to tell.
