With a makeshift raft, migrants from Honduras cross the Suchiate river, the natural border between Guatemala and Mexico, arriving in Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas state, Mexico on October 22, 2018.

The caravan of Honduran migrants head north to the US after crossing the Mexican border illegally. According to US media, it might still take weeks for them to reach the US-Mexico border.

In a series of tweets on Monday, US President Donald Trump has alerted the US border patrol and military that the migrant caravan heading toward the US-Mexico border is a national emergency.
