The Cost of Courage - Part II: The Murder of BBC pedo-ring investigator, Jill DandosteemCreated with Sketch.

Jill Dando

Jill Dando's still-unsolved murder in 1999 came after she uncovered the BBC's involvement in a pedophile ring. Dando was shot in the head on her front porch by a gunman who police claimed to be a "crazed individual", but as it turns out the facts reveal a darker side to this story that may suggest the work of a real conspiracy connecting all the way to Pizzagate/Pedogate.

This is the second part in a series on investigators and journalists who mysteriously died investigating government-sponsored crimes and illicit activities, especially human trafficking.

Part I - The Life and Death of Michael Hastings can be found here.

Life

Jill Dando was the host of Crimewatch, a program of the British Broadcasting Company (BBC). In 1997 she was given BBC's Personality of the Year and also presented on BBC's Breakfast News, One O'Clock News and Six O'Clock News. The week of her death Jill Dando presented the first episode of The Antiques Inspectors and was also featured on the cover of Radio Times magazine.

Jill Dando was also an advocate for Albanian Kosovar refugees in the war-torn region of Yugoslavia.

Investigation into BBC pedophile ring

As an investigative journalist, Jill Dando was beginning to uncover facts about a pedophile ring within the British Broadcasting Company itself. Multiple sex crimes and assaults in addition to sexual advances on female BBC journalists were being perpetrated throughout the company by DJs and celebrities including known-pedophile DJ Jimmy Savile.

A co-worker at the BBC spoke with researchers about Dando's attempts to bring the investigation up to BBC management:

The friend and retired BBC worker said the late Crimewatch host was told DJs, celebrities and other staff were involved in organised abuse.

But the anonymous source says “no one wanted to know” when Miss Dando raised concerns about the alleged ring and other sexual abuse claims at the BBC.

She is said to have passed a file to senior management in the mid-1990s, but they never carried out an investigation.

The source said: “I don’t recall the names of all the stars now and don’t want to implicate anyone, but Jill said they were surprisingly big names.”

“I think she was quite shocked when told about images of children and that information on how to join this horrible paedophile ring was freely available.”

“Jill said others had complained to her about sexual matters and that some female workmates also claimed they had been groped or assaulted.”

“Nothing had been done and there seemed to be a policy of turning a blind eye.”

Death

On April 26, 1999 at around 11:30 am, Jill Dando was returning to her home in Fulham, London. As she was putting the keys into her front door, a 6-foot, middle-aged white male forced Dando to ground. While the assailant had her restrained, he used his left hand to fire a 9mm round through Dando's left temple at an angle parallel to the ground.(1) (archive.is)

Neighbors recall being able to hear Jill Dando's voice as if she recognized someone, but were not able to hear a gunshot. Neighbors would then discover her body outside almost 14 minutes later after witnessing the male suspect leaving walking away.(2) (archive.is)

Suspects and theories

Barry George

Barry George was originally convicted with the murder of Jill Dando on July 2, 2001. He was charged on the basis that he lived about half a mile from Dando's house and had a history of stalking women, sexual offending and other anti-social and attention seeking behavior.(3)

The physical evidence against George was nominal, however, and after three appeals George was able to get most of the evidence thrown out and eventually was acquitted in 2008. George would go on to win successful libel lawsuits against The Sun and News of the World which published articles suggesting his guilt.(4)

Professional killer

British police have maintained throughout the case that there was no evidence the killer was a professional. They make this assertion based on the idea that weapon used (judging by the casing and bullet at the scene) appeared to be makeshift or some sort of workshop conversion. It was then assumed to be a "poor quality" weapon that a professional would not likely use. This led to the British police profiling the killer as a "crazed" individual which ultimately led to the erroneous arrest of Barry George.

There are obvious problems with these assumptions, however. Witnesses for instance describe being able to hear Dando's voice, but not a 9mm gun shot. There are only two explanations for this which both indicate a level of skill and knowledge akin to a professional hitman:

  1. The use of a makeshift suppressor might result in the characteristic markings on the bullet as well as the lack of sound heard by neighbors. The weapon itself may have been makeshift as well as evidenced by the shell casings, but this doesn't exactly equate to the weapon being of poor quality. Seemingly inconspicuous items have commonly been converted and used covertly as firearms throughout history, including this 1869 brass-knuckle/revolver and simple instructions on making a 9mm weapon with a single steel pipe. This would easily explain why the assailant was able to walk away casually after shooting Dando on her front porch.
  2. Forensic analysts noted that the muzzle of the 9mm pistol was pressed directly against Dando's head. This method of execution is common for hitmen as it further silences the sound of the shot and prevents the killer from being splattered with blood.

Pipe gun
For example, here is a simple and functioning pipe gun which can be fitted with a suppressor and can be easily hidden

Cold case reviews more recently by British police seem to corroborate the idea of a professional killer as well. It was reported in 2012 that British cold case analysts as early as 2008 were also beginning to accept that a professional likely murdered Jill Dando.(5)

Yugoslavian assassin

While at first widely discredited by law enforcement, it appears more recently that they are beginning to believe that Jill Dando was killed by a Serbian assassin from Yugoslavia.

On April 23, 1999, just three days before Dando's death, Serbian warlord Arkan ordered Dando's assassination for the NATO bombing of the Radio Television of Serbia headquarters which killed sixteen staff members.(6)

Apparently Dando was in the process of appealing for aid to Kosovar Albanian refugees. Some may recognize these people as the same group who were being harvested for kidneys, tortured and executed in Kosovo by DynCorp-trained police forces under Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.

Further corroborating this theory is the fact that another Serbian opposition journalist in Belgrade was murdered in an identical fashion to Dando just days before her murder.(7)

Connection to BBC pedophile ring investigation

Jill Dando's work in supporting refugees in Yugoslavia may have earned her more enemies than just the warlords of Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo. During the 1990s, human and organ trafficking was becoming rampant throughout Yugoslavia as a result of civil war and the genocide of various ethnic groups in the region, including a great many Albanian Kosovars.

While a great deal of atrocities were committed by the State-sponsored police and armies of various Yugoslavian countries, those exact State-sponsored police and armies were more often than not funded, trained and supported directly by the United Nations and defense contractors such as DynCorp.

The United Nations, DynCorp and even Jeffrey Epstein would all be found having trafficked sex slaves, often underage, throughout Yugoslavia during this same exact period in the 1990s. Jimmy Savile sexually assaulted possibly hundreds of underage victims during this same time period, and his connections to Jeffrey Epstein may indicate the pedophile networks were interconnected.

Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, for instance, are both accused of sexually advancing on and violating underage girls(8) in addition to being friends of both Jeffrey Epstein and Jimmy Savile.(9) Jeffrey Epstein had also illegally used a State Department and DynCorp tail number during this time period in addition to DynCorp having their sex trafficking scandals covered up by close friends of Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. In addition, Jimmy Savile, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton have all visited Jeffrey Epstein's private island, Little St. James, where he kept underage sex slaves.

Had Dando started publishing her investigations on the BBC pedophile ring, it likely would have implicated a large number of international political elites that simply could not be let out to the public.

WikiLeaks and CIA insight on the mishandling of the investigation

In the U.S. Diplomatic Cables section of WikiLeaks one can find an email from Freetown, Sierra Leone to the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) which includes, oddly enough, information on the murder of Jill Dando. Revelations include Scotland Yard Detective Chief Inspector mishandling evidence in Dando's case and then ironically becoming a covert member and eventual Principal Investigations Officer of Sierra Leone's Anti Corruption Commission (ACC):

The Freetown newspaper "The Exclusive" carried a story on September 7 purporting to announce the arrival of the ACC's new Principal Investigations officer - former Scotland Yard Detective Chief Inspector Hamish Campbell, who led the hunt for the killer of BBC TV presenter Jill Dando.

The article points out that Campbell was suspected of tampering with a key piece of evidence in the Dando trial and questions his appropriateness for the ACC job.

(Comment:

Campbell has actually been at the ACC since January and was advised to stay "under the radar screen" to avoid a fate similar to Andy Felton, the "cowboy" former ACC Deputy Commissioner who recently resigned after weathering a barrage of criticism from the Kabbah government for his investigation tactics.

Campbell successfully laid low until now, but it appears that someone in Sierra Leone is not/not happy with another meddling Brit.

While it is true that the UK's Criminal Case Review Commission has been reviewing the Dando conviction for the past two years, those in police circles see Campbell as the unfortunate one who happened to head a case that became a media frenzy.

End Comment)
