Your trash is the trash collector’s library
No, this is not about how the NSA, who just deleted honesty from its core values, goes about its work.
This is about Turkish trash collectors who got themselves an own library by taking books that had been thrown away. (In more democratic countries this would probably have put them into jail for a theft series, since even trash has an owner.)
In just 7 month they collected 4700 books. The library is (at first only intended for the trash collectors) open to everyone. They even get donations.
Now the initiative thinks about launching a mobile library for schools that have no library themselves.
If you ask me: A school without a library is a capital crime!
Actually, while there are some local exceptions, trash is generally fair game for anyone who wants to take it here in the U.S. Once it has been rolled out to the curb anyway.
One's trash is another's treasure! Especially a book in a digital age..
