Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir will not affect Army’s operations, says General Bipin Rawat
Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday said the imposition of Governor’s rule in the state would not affect the Army’s operations. “Our operations will go on like they used to,” the Army chief said. “We don’t face any political interference.”
Governor’s rule was imposed in the state on Wednesday, a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party pulled out of the government and ended its alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party.
Rawat said the Centre had ended the unilateral ceasefire, which was announced during Ramzan, because militants continued with their attacks. “We only stopped our operations during Ramzan,” IANS quoted Rawat as saying. “But we saw what happened. The terrorists continued with their actions.”

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh revoked the ceasefire on Sunday, citing the “violence and killings” by militants through the month. Officials said there were 20 grenade attacks, 50 militant strikes and 41 killings in Kashmir in the Valley during this period.
