Much of the support from the bottom who've felt economic gains b/c of Trump, will abandon him to join his opponents when the economy tanks. He's taken credit for all the improvement, he will be seen as responsible for the downturn too. These supporters can be bought with promises.

As the elite frantically watch the reins slipping from their hands, they may begin eyeing precipitating a financial crash as the best chance of holding onto power. Opportunistically, they could maneuver themselves into critical posts in a revolutionary socialist government. The Deep State is in the position to do this easily. Such a government conceivably could win power b/c of "the perceived failure of capitalism" - really just the sellout supporters so desperate or ignorant that when the economy tanks they'll believe the promises of democratic socialism.
