The American Bitcoin exchange market Coinbase has received $ 100 million during a fifth round of financing.
Coinbase said this in a blog post a few days ago. CEO Brian Armstrong wrote about the financing round:
According to own data, the company had so far implemented $ 25 billion in Bitcoin and is one of the largest Bitcoin exchanges in the world. Three projects will now be implemented through the funding:
- Expansion of the customer service and the team of the technical employees, so that processes for customers can run even better.
- The opening of another branch in New York.
- Investing in the Ethereum browser Toshi.
IBM, PSA International, and PIL have signed a contract agreeing to test the application of blockchain in port logistics and global supply chains.
In the future, American IT company IBM is working together with PSA International, one of the world's leading port operators, and the Pacific International Lines (PIL) shipping company to optimize global trading through blockchain technology. On August 15, the three parties signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" on the margins of the Singapore Regional Business Forum (SRBF). A joint press release says that technologies such as blockchain should be tested to improve security, efficiency and transparency in regional supply chains. To this end, the flow of documents between trading partners is to be automated and designed for everyone.
The CEO of PSA international, Tan Chong Meng, said on the agreement:

The cooperation is part of a series of attempts to explore the potential of block-based approaches to solving logistics problems in the industrial sector. In ship traffic in particular, there were already large-scale project initiatives to test the technology. The Port of Rotterdam has already had similar plans in the past to allow the port logistics to be handled via the blockchain technology.
The Singapore Regional Business Forum (SRBF) was organized by the Singapore Business Federation to explore the opportunities of regional cooperation within the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative.
The KeepKey brand is also to be retained after the takeover by ShapeShift. The hardware company will continue to work on the development of hardware products for Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The Swiss Crypto Exchange ShapeShift has purchased the Bitcoin Hardware Wallet Startup KeepKey. This posted KeepKey on Wednesday, 16 August, on its website. This is the first time a takeover of a start-up company, which is exclusively specialized in hardware products. The combination of ShapeShift and KeepKey is designed to allow users to securely store Coins on a KeepKey device while simultaneously acting directly from the device via ShapeShift.
"With ShapeShift, users do not need to leave assets on an exchange market, they do not need a computer with KeepKey," says ShapeShift CEO Erik Voorhees. He believes that it will be common in the future to keep keys on a hardware and handle the crypto-currency trade directly from the hardware. According to Voorhees, storage on a Cold Storage Wallet also has the advantage of keeping digital currencies completely offline. This protects against theft or manipulation and increases the security of users who wish to trade with crypto currencies. The cooperation of the Wallet Startup KeepKey with ShapeShift considerably reduces this risk.
KeepKey-CTO Ken Hodler said:
Last summer, KeepKey had synchronized with ShapeShift and supported BitKin, Ether, Litecoin and Dash other digital currencies.
The new driver from AMD is intended to improve the function of graphics cards used for mining.
AMD has developed a new software designed specifically for the mining of crypto currencies. On its Website, the graphics card manufacturer describes the "Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute" as a beta-level-support driver, which is intended to optimize the effectiveness of the calculative workload of the blockchain. In the future, miners should be able to generate new tokens faster and easier. Further updates, upgrades or bug repairs are not intended for the driver.
This brings further development into the market for graphics cards, which are aimed at the mining of tokens. Also hardware manufacturer Asus already issued its own graphics card "Mining RX 470 and Mining P106" for the Mining. The CEO of AMD competitor Nvidia also commented on the topic. The emergence of new technologies to improve the mining efficiency creates an interesting alternative for investors to circumvent the currently heated prices on the crypto market.
Users should note that the new software is available only for the Operating Systems of the Microsoft Windows Platforms Windows 10 and Windows 7. The Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is required to install the driver. The user must be registered as administrator or have administrator rights during installation. If you want to install Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for blockchain on an Apple product, you should contact the manufacturer regarding the use of the driver.

AMD never said they weren't going to, they said they would watch the Cryptocurrency space and make a decision from there, they're just a bit more cautious than nVidia instead of jumping in both feet first.

Thank you for the update on Coinbase and it's recent investment round. After this round ( I believe Series D?), I wonder if it will attempt to become a publicly traded company. I would certainly be interested in getting in on such an opportunity.
