Thousands of Hectares of Dry Rice and Harvest Failed Threatened

Approximately 1,600 hectares of paddy fields in Kabupaten Pirak Timu of North Aceh Regency suffered drought, consequently farmers in the sub-district are threatened with crop failure Wednesday (14/2/2017).

Drought that has occurred since now, farmers in the area there is no irrigation channels and so far only rely on rain water.

All paddy fields in the District of Pirak Timu consisting of 23 villages still rely on water from rainfed and now the condition is estimated to be harvest failure because there is no rain water.

Due to the drought the ground hardened some rice plants began to turn yellow and died due to lack of water intake.

Various efforts have been made by farmers to drain the air into the fields through the pompanisasi from Dungai Krueng Piraknamun because the limited distance of air source location far from the field of this pompanisasi business becomes ineffective.

According to Ismohar, citizens now need government attention in order to build irrigation channels that can flow water in District Pirak Timu ..

Meanwhile, Geuchik Alue Bungkoh, Usman Cut said that farmers working in their fields depend on rainfall, if maximum rainfall then perhektarnya can produce 8 tons of rice and if the condition lahanya like this then this year can surely fail to harvest.

Farmers hope the North Aceh Regency government to pay attention to the fate of farmers to build irrigation channels so that water will always be available and can not fail to harvest.
