Prosecutor seeks death penalty for 5 suspects in Khashoggi case - Saudi FM
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that the Suadi Prosecutor General will seek the death penalty for five individuals involved in the Jamal Khashoggi case, speaking from Riyadh on Thursday.
According to the al-Jubeir, "11 individuals have been convicted and referred to court, including five individuals, for whom the Prosecutor General will seek the death penalty."
In total, "18 suspects have been arrested and 6 officials have been relieved of their positions," as a result of the ongoing investigation on the case of the slain Saudi journalist.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is determined to punish all those involved in this crime," al-Jubeir said, adding that the kingdom will take "the necessary measures as to guarantee this will not be repeated in the future."
The minister went on by rejecting "any attempt to politicize the case or to interfere in the internal affair of Saudi Arabia" and called to "the brothers in Turkey" to share any additional information they may have.
