National symbols

1. Nigerian National anthem:
These is indeed a song that moves million of people all over the world. It's one of the most powerful symbol of my country. Below are the Nigerian national anthem.

Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

2. The Nigerian coat of arm (shield)
The Nigerian coat of arm is another great symbol with many meaning attach to it. These I will explain below.

1. Black shield and colourful wreath over the shield stand for fertile soil of Nigeria;

2. White horses mean dignity;

3. Red Eagle is for the strength of the nation;

4. White lines in the “Y” shape stand for two main rivers of Nigeria: Benue and Niger;

5. Yellow Trumpet or Costus Spectabilis is the national flower of Nigeria. In these case the are painted read for some reasons. The flower is placed on the ground where the shield is standing. It represents the beauty of the country and its nation;

6. “Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress” line beneath the shield is the Nigerian national motto. It was adopted in 1978. The purpose is to inspire the nation to be united, faithful, live in peace and grow, become wiser and stronger.

3. National Flag :
You will agree with me that the primary symbol of every country is its national flag. So today I will be showing you the Nigerian national flag.
