The world's oldest giant panda died
In the Chinese province of Fuzhou, the oldest of the giant pandas living in captivity died.
Basie was 37 years old, which is equivalent to more than 100 years of human life.
Basi outlived most of her peers for almost two decades - pandas in the wild have an average life expectancy of about 20 years, but those bamboo bears that live in cages usually live longer. In January, China marked the next birthday of Basie with pomp. She was given a special birthday cake. Earlier, a black and white bear from the Chinese zoo became the oldest panda mom.
