DL Hughley and My thoughts On The Black GodFather :: Netflix

in #netflix5 years ago

Finally got around to watching #TheBlackGodfather ... was better than I had expected; some of the people posting reviews made it sound like this man was tap dancing for the man .... the reality is, he WAS fortunate enough to be 'put on' by the right people with contacts; the right, white people with contacts (again keeping this 100; as he came from that time, conservatives want to take us "back to", when they felt America was Great, where whites had ALL positions of power, and Blacks were under Jim Crow levels of "Control" .... )

The First Influencer :: Clarence Avant

........ This brotha was chosen because frankly, they needed someone who could 'relate' to the artists they were looking to make money from as well; however, unlike a lot of us ... both then, and all the way into now, he used his position of 'favor' to put as many black folks On as he could; to open as many doors as possible; and push everything as far along as he possibly could .... pretty damn inspirational; Truly hope that most of those he opened doors for, are now opening doors for others; (in fact, a lot of the doc, *Spoilers.... is about how many of those he's helped, have helped others;)

Afterall .... it is the only way ..... "no (one) man/woman can rise above the conditions of his/her people." - Elijah Muhammad, paraphrased

Additional commentary from D.L. Hughley

IN Closing ...

Along with ensuring that he opened doors for black people, he also partnered with people of All racial backgrounds, if they were also about progression. Those relationships, prove to be absolutely everything. It's about 'who' we know in life, not 'what' we know. That's some old advice I always share, because it's the entire truth. The Black Godfather shows us how relevant relationships actually are.
