October 29, 19: Writing a Calculus Exam, Job Interview, and Teaching Calculus

Today has been quite a full day! Spent the morning doing usual stuff, checking out my Steem feed, doing dishes, and chatting over on Discord.

Got another whopping set of commons. Only one more day left in the season, and the competition is getting fierce.

I have a student who arranged with me to take the Calculus exam a day early in the testing center, so I had to get it created and printed today rather than Thursday. So, got that done and ready go before I got showered and ready for my interview.

I think it went pretty well! 😀 Don’t wanna’ jinx it...and there’s always the “coulda’s” and “shoulda’s” of hindsight. But, still, was a good interview...a bit intimidating being interviewed by five people!!! I’ll find out hopefully by the end of this week.

Meanwhile, my students told me today that I’m scheduled to teach Calculus II next semester, so that’s fantastic! I thought if I didn’t get the position I would just be out of luck, but we’re all good. 😃😄

We got done earlier than scheduled, so I drove back home and prepared for teaching. Quite a bit of time spent driving today (about 3 hours), but that was my choice; I had planned to stay on campus, packed a lunch and change of clothes and everything, but it was nice to chill at home.

Then I went back in and taught Calculus. We started into the nitty gritty of the definition of the definite integral, a bit with summation and summation notation, and then I gave them the shortcut and we evaluated a couple.

After driving home again and getting a bit of food, that’s a whole day! No exercise proper today, but I did some walking done getting my exams printed out and taking them up to the testing center as well as all the moving I do during teaching; so the streak continues! 💪

I did get my weekly stats though!

Tomorrow I’ve got to write the Trigonometry exam, and give it tomorrow too! 🤭😳. I’m sure it’ll be fine.
