Why I'm Not Mad At Superteams; Not Mad at Kevin Durant Either.

in #nba6 years ago

I'm sure it's just the Basketball player in me .... raised up at VP ... playing amongst some of the best talent to come out of Southern California .... talent that, In my Humble Opinion helped Shape Basketball into what we see today :: and I guess, that is why I'm not mad at any of these 'so-called' Super teams ...

I feel like these basketball players making Millions of dollars to play this game, Need to approach the game the right way; and with enough HEART to stop Running from players; every player puts his shoes and shorts on the same way; Being a 'superstar' is about how often your team can count on you to perform;

KD played with a lot of talent in OKC; but it just wasn't 'enough talent' - or possibly just not 'the right talent' to mix with his game; Golden State was a Decent basketball team; decent enough to GET to the Chip; but certainly were not Unbeatable; KD certainly made them 'damn near' unbeatable .... but a lot of that, is Mental.

Like I know that 'sounds' crazy but again, I grew up on those courts; and played with everybody; never feared not a single man; always held my own; and I think a lot of players nowadays get caught up in listening to 'fans' and other players who just don't have it together 'mentally' and think it's all about the physical .... it's not;

Basketball is 90% mental, and 10% talent;

a great coach 'can' help with the mental; but the player has to have the will and desire to be better; they have to have the commitment -- the Playoffs is when "Stars are Born" because 'usually' this is when players we have not heard of step up their games; They take it up a level ......... but I have not seen that from a single player on the Cavs team...

I didn't see it in the play of any of the people on these other teams the Warriors faced on their road to the finals; I saw a lot of players mailing it in; not giving it their all; leaving plenty on the floor; Not paying attention to game situations; Thinking about the women in the stands; Joking, trying to Dance to the Halftime and Time-out Music real quick, you know ... Silly immature ish that separates the boys from the men.

The problem in my eyes is not super teams, but Watered Down Mentalities in Basketball right now; People This is why I get upset at comparisons with Lebron and MJ; Skipping over Kobe; because the Basketball conversation Skips over the Mental Toughness; the playing THROUGH injuries; The Playing Through NO-Calls from refs; without flopping; The going till the clock say 0, no matter the score; all that gets LEFT out, and goes Unappreciated - as basketball players convince themselves and one another that nobody could ever do that BUT Kobe and besides, he shot too much, so let's not even pay attention to what he Gave the Game.... let's ignore that example .... let's only talk about when he Played with Shaq and ignore all the winning he got done with Kwame Brown; and Smush Parker; They made the playoffs with that squad; People act like Pau was a monster; he was just decent and consistent.

But even his nickname was Pau Gasoft....

But that is what I liked about Derek Fisher; Not a talented player ... not really; He had Heart though. PG's burned him night after night but they better not leave Him open in the clutch; they better not drive to the hole out of control, b/c Fish was ready to take that charge; He made plays ....

Sasha earned the nickname, "the Machine" while playing with Kobe; because he was inspired to LIFT his game to the level that teams thought he could play; he was trash. But even he had moments that mattered, b/c the heart was there....

Pau Gasol was aiight .... before playing with Kobe; after playing with him he became one of the greatest players in the World; soft as he was, he saw he had to turn it up a notch;

People talk about Shaq, but never mention the Rick Fox and Robert Horry's, players who may not make Halls of Fame, but who's grit and heart were ESSENTIAL To the many championships THEY helped their teams win .... Horry helping 7 of them ....

These are not Hall of Famers though; Fish, Sasha, Horry, Fox, - nor is a Devan George, who also made big plays when it mattered; or a Aging Ron Artest at the end of his rope, pulling all of his heart into it, after his talent went away; because it's the Heart, not the 'talent' .....

when those two combine, look out ....

but when it's just Heart out there .... Talent better be on it's toes.
