Are Today's Cavaliers Team Better Than the LeBron Led Miami Heat? What Do You Think?

I know that this would be another endless debatable question. But interestingly both of these teams has a commonality that we need to see whether games of today raises its level or has it been degraded. That commonality of course is they both have LeBron James arguably regarded as the best basketball player in the planet today.

To answer this, doesn't have to make us play an NBA fantasy game on Xbox. All we have to do is to try to see the area or important factors where a winning team has an advantage over the other. So c'mon let's a look.

The Coaching Staff.
Looking at the coaching staff, what you immediately notice is of course who sits on the helm. For Miami Heat it would be the former Coach of The Year Erik Spoelstra and for the Cavs Tyron Lue.

In this area, what you can see on paper is the obvious advantage of Spoelstra over Lue, The award alone speaks for itself, not to mention the vast experience and professionalism Spoelstra have shown in his entire coaching career even up to now.

On the other hand, although not so impressive on paper you would recognize how superb Tyron Lue has micro managed the playing time of his superstars in the team. The testament to this is how energized and refreshed LeBron appears at this stage of the 2016-17 season.

On last year's Finals, the mighty Dubs succumbs towards the end of the series because Cavs players never ran out of steam and still has plenty of energy to deliver while GSW has already spent a lot during the season going through the playoffs.

Advantage: Miami Heat

The Big Three.
Miami's big three: Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh and its current counterpart with Cavs: Lebron, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are one of the powerhouses ready to bring any team to the title contention.

However it s not just the measurement of each talent but on how they can beautifully complement to the team are the real measuring factor of its success. In this regard, Wade's athletic prowess can offset Kyrie's ball handling skills while Bosh can cross out with what Love is bringing to the game.

Advantage: Even

Defense.
On paper and stats tally what you can readily see is Miami's excellence in defense and physical play that even continue to this day. However, you may also take into account that the game in the last 3 to 5 years, has radically changed.

Stephen Curry redefined high percentage shots and the way 3 point shots are now considered as primary offensive option not just as an alternative weapon when low post plays are not working. With this in mind, although always a major factor, defense is understandably has taken a back seat from the spot light.

Over-all with the defensive mindset and culture that Miami Heat has ingrained in their system they have the natural advantage on this area.

Advantage: Miami Heat

Offense.
NBA and basketball is now under the game changing revolution in the area of how offense are effectively executed. Teams who cannot adapt were eventually obliterated from the competition.

No basketball era has highlighted more firepower and individual offensive skills of the players. Curry, Westbrook, Harden and many others are in the forefront of how this offensive mentality are being executed on the basketball court. Records
have been shattered and from the looks of it the trend will just continue and will forever change the landscape of the game.

Cavaliers is one of the teams that has wonderfully adjusted or adapted to the changing nature of the game. Attempting and making more three point shots in their franchise history. It is easy picking to chose Cavaliers over Miami Heat on this area.

Advantage: Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bench Depth.
We all know that it is not only the Big Three that are playing in fact the biggest factor are the 9 other players in the roster. And on this one I could pick that this year's Cavaliers are better than the 2012 and 2013 LeBron led Miami Heat team.

With the emerging competition around the NBA, Cavaliers has rightfully assembled a super team complete with bench depth. Employing the likes of veteran superstars Deron Williams, Kyle Korver, Richard Jefferson, and many others. Complementing their offensive prowess to widen up the lane and also bringing defensive hustle to the table. A complete recipe to dominate any opposing team.

While the champion Miami Heat team has assembled a very respectable line up of role players, it doesn't come near in comparison to what the present Cleveland Cavaliers has built. This bench is firepower and defense ready especially when it is in critical moment or the game is on the line.

Advantage: Cleveland Cavaliers

Over All Result.
Judging from all the factors given above, I can see that Cleveland Cavaliers of today are slightly better than the 2012 and 2013 Miami Heat NBA champion.
