Hummingbirds are addicted to sugar; they need it to sustain their high energy lifestyle and plants like this ginger flower in Costa Rica’s cloud forest lure them in with bright colors and get pollinated as part of the bargain. In Borneo, the largest flower in the world uses bright colors as well to lure pollinators. But it resembles an alien life form straight out of Avatar.
