#SecretPlaces - COLORS OF MY COUNTRY: Green

That place that makes my imagination go empty and fly in peace, forgetting the bad things that happen. I had the opportunity to visit this place a few years ago, and since then it has become my favorite place in the whole Venezuelan territory, that place where I go to overcome bad experiences and fill myself with great moments and memories with wonderful people.

It is located an hour away from the Cocollar town, in the municipality of Montes. It is an area whose inhabitants are farmers par excellence, they cultivate and raise a large part of their food. In this region the savanna environments of its green hills are combined with rainy forests, whose soils are covered by dense leaf litter that provides an excellent organic material and favors the different crops of the area, mainly coffee.

The climate of this place depends on the season, here in Venezuela we have two seasons, rain and drought. However, most of the year this area is characterized by a cold climate that can even vary drastically within the same day, presenting a sunny and hot morning, with rainy afternoons and clear nights that let you contemplate the stars and the Moon; This is thanks to the altitude of the area, where strong winds make the clouds travel constantly.

With the rain comes the embrace of the mist, which locals call "bobeño", from the evaporation of soil moisture and water vapor expelled by vegetation and bodies of water.

Its inhabitants are wonderful and very hospitable people, being a coffee zone par excellence, they have numerous coffee crops in the dense jungle, so they don't hesitate to offer a cup of hot coffee to keep you warm. They also grow tobacco, a large variety of bananas, oranges and other fruits and vegetables.

All these factors are combined and allow the maintenance and coexistence of a unique fauna and vegetation, almost unique and characteristic of this region. And it is for these species that I like to visit this place so much.

Characteristic of these regions, the banana frog (Boana xerophylla) performs most of its activities from sunset to sunrise, like most amphibians. When it is a season, you can find the larvae of these organisms in the pools that form on the roads and paths, which seem alive, full of tadpoles.

Numerous species of wild orchids and other plants are used by the inhabitants to color their homes.

In the same way, walking in the dense forest, you can see different species of fungi, which take advantage of organic matter, both leaf litter and animal excrement.

You can also know the numerous insects that flood the environment with their sounds, and are prey to other arthropods that are always on hunting.

With no doubt its a place where you can breathe fresh air and contemplate nature at its best, away from the smell of fuel, smoke and bustle of the city.
