Foraging for Mushrooms steemCreated with Sketch.

Who doesn't love mushroom soup, coupled that with a wheat bread? Then how about foraging them from your own backyard? What preparations will you do with them?

There was such an excitement few days ago when my brother noticed some mushrooms beginning to grow under our Moringa tree. As am rarely in the country during rainy seasons till November, never have i seen them growing in abundance in our own backyard. Growing up, there were probably on occasions a few in one or 2 spots, but not as much like these.

It only took 24 hours for them to fully grow and spread their cap, their stem growing to maturity. Because there were only 3 locations where they were growing, it was surprising to see them the following morning.

Mushroom galore!

Usually, the mushroom season comes during the rainy ones. As the last typhoon/rain was 3 months ago, everyone got so excited and want to harvest them.

I got the priviledge. Look at these lovelies!

What i know is that mushrooms are rich in protein and fiber. As for cooking, it's very common to make soup with moringa leaves. It also can be cooked like adobo, a filipino specialty. Although ready made soup is everywhere in London, mushroom burger is the best!

As a protein replacement, what other benefits can we get from mushrooms that you know of?

Or food preparations perhaps? Accordingly, the healthiest way to cook them is through grilling...so our best bet is to make burgers?

Love mushrooms! Seeing these reminds me of my childhood in Denmark where we'd often go mushroom gathering in the woods in autumn... the whole family. There were several kinds of edible mushrooms... as well as some it were best to just steer clear of, either toxic or bitter enough they might spoil the entire batch of good ones.

How would you differentiate the good ones from the bad ones? They are rare in my place.

so many mushrooms just popped out here! and not the eating kind.... one looked like an alien! the ones u found look gorgeous, so nice u can eat them

Oh what a shame they're not edible! Are you sure? There are poisonous ones though.
Grilling mushrooms aren't the norm where we are but it's ok.

Yummy, they look that a good soup. I believe though you are right, people should try them in a vegan burger. The best

Much better if your view is right over the pond, right teo?
