Named & Shamed Series - David M Luna

This guy is by no means anywhere near as horrific as the other individuals I hope we Steemians cover in this "Named & Shamed" series. The reason I am writing about him is because it was reading his disgraceful article in the Khmer Times with the title:

"How black-market tobacco funds the world’s bad actors"

My Reaction

Reading this opinion piece it was immediately clear that David M Luna is driving the tedious narrative that we need to act against the Taliban and North Korea. David felt like giving this cooky cutter article a slightly different twist by blaming part of the funding for "bad actors" from illegal tobacco. Sounds a bit like smoke home made, support our war!

To give you some examples his pitiful rhetoric here are a few quotes taken from his insipid article:

"It’s time to focus the world’s attention on a smuggling enterprise that helps underwrite North Korea’s nukes and the Taliban’s terror.

Where does North Korea, whose gross domestic product is less than that of some American cities, get the money to fund its nuclear efforts? Kim Jong-un and his regime obtain much of their money from a vast series of criminal enterprises that trade in everything from goods made by forced labour to counterfeit currency to narcotics.

And like many insurgent groups and criminal organisations worldwide, Mr Kim and his circle also traffic in illegal tobacco." 2

We need to fight America's enemies and we will do it by cracking down on untaxed tobacco. No mention that Opium production has spiked to record highs. 3.

It Becomes Interesting When We Look At Who David M Luna Is!

David's CV reads like this:

David M. Luna is CEO and president of Luna Global Networks & Convergence Strategies LLC and the departing chair of the OECD Task Force on Countering Illicit Trade. He is the former Senior Director for National Security and Diplomacy, Anti-Crime Programs, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Affairs at the US Department of State.

This guy is another corporate shill. Doing what he is told by his masters for bribes or blackmail!

His CV says: "Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Affairs at the US Department of State." Everyone knows that our governments and their institutions are the largest illicit drug smugglers. Either David M Luna is completely stupid or he has sold his sole to his masters!
