In Venezuela, the closing of the month of May is usually celebrated in schools, a religious-cultural ceremony, as part of the Venezuelan tradition that dates back more than 155 years, is La Cruz de Mayo. It consists of paying tribute to nature for being this month, the beginning of the harvest season and the beginning of the rainy season.
In the San Josรฉ Education Unit, where my niece studies and where I work as a teacher in the area of Education for Work, specifically: gardening and handicrafts, we celebrate this traditional feast, the last week of May. The activities are diverse - sports, cultural and religious - and community participation is integrated.
From Monday 28th to Thursday 31st -Friday 1st June is free- these activities have been taking place and I will now give you a photographic overview of the multitude of activities we have had with the children -1st to 6th Grades-.

The religious activities were held in the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel, an infrastructure that is part of the institution.

Sports Activities and Food
The sporting activities took place this morning, in the main street and in the central courtyard of the institution. The community collaborated in the event.
The meal was prepared this afternoon and will be served tomorrow after the procession of The Cross of Mayo, throughout the neighborhood.

While the workers were cooking accompanied by several representatives, in the central courtyard, a vervain was made.

In the year 2014, the May Cross in its Diversity is declared a Cultural Heritage of Venezuela.
