Chocolate Moron/ Suman /Budbud

This chocolate moron is one of the delicious delicacy in Eastern Visayas, province of Leyte.

My officemate from Sta. Fe, Leyte, brought this chocoloate moron as pasalubong to us.

Preparing this chocolate moron needs patience and dedication.

What to prepare;

  1. Ground Malagkit rice plain rice
  2. Pure coconut milk
  3. Brown sugar
  4. Pure ground cacao or cocoa powder
  5. Ground peanuts
  6. Cheese (optional)
  7. Banana leaf ( must have been exposed to light fire charcoal to soften the leaf.

Procedures;

  1. Mixed all the ingredients above
  2. Use the pure gata as water to the mixture
  3. Stir constantly the mixture under medium fire
  4. Wait for 45 minutes or until the mixture becomes sticky
  5. Remove the sticky mixture from the pot
  6. Cool it down for few minutes
  7. Once it cools down, scope enough mixture and arrange in the banana leaf and add strip of cheese and roll the banana leaf with the mixture inside the roll. Tie both ends with white thread.
  8. After all the mixtures were rolled, have them arranged inside the steamer.
  9. Use plain water in steaming the chocolate moron.
  10. Steam it for 30 minutes

After which, you will have it cool down, then it is now ready to be served.

However, having these chocolate moron best served is when it was chilled.
