How would you cut out an oil-fired boiler?

Shut off all the fired. Close air registers.

Slow down fuel pump as the fire are shut off to prevent excess fuel pressure.

Close in on the steam to the fuel oil heaters.

Shut off the supply to the boiler and open return valve to kill pressure on fuel oil heaters line.

Remove all burners for cleaning.

Shut off main and auxiliary steam valves.

If pressure tends to go up,add a little feed water .when finished ,close feed stop and check valves.

Shut off damper to boiler.

Clean out all drip pans and oil accumulation to eliminate frie hazards.

This is a gernal series of things to do.It may very slightly in different installations,especially on automatic control systems.

What is the air register ?

The complete unit that is bolted to tje front on the boiler.consists of the air scoop or bladed cone and fixtures that are needed for the oil burner .

The pipe or vent leading ti the atmosphere which carry off the steam set free when the safety valve lift
