In my country it's legal so I observed the situation closely.
Legal prostitution and sex crime is two different things and are not connected. You would find many countries where the crime rates as well as amount of brothels are low compared to where prostitution is legal.
You also have to consider that all the abuse and sexual crimes are not even reported.
So it's mostly depends on the social culture and people's behavior.

So in a way, legalizing prostitution DOES reduce sexual crimes overall.

So, legal prostitution from 150 countries sampled in the study shows that scale effects are more dominant than substitution effects. The scale effect of legalized prostitution leads to an expansion of the prostitution market, increasing human trafficking.
