if you are a daily blogger in steemit you might and should follow a specific niche. A niche that could be photography, story writing, philosophy and any other from the 700+ tags that steemit has. Now I can suggest a staggering list of 100+ people who talk about things that I usually like to read. But I'm not sure that you might find value in their contents. So, this is a job you have to conduct on your own. Find your true niche, search for users with similar motives and follow them explicitly.

On the other hand, I would suggest you to follow @meno @stephenkendall @abh12345 and many others. If you are desperate and can,t find any good authors i say just visit my profile and see who I myself follow. See if you can find someone you like. But do as I mentioned upwards and you will find the perfect ones.

Whom to follow on Steemit should be based on your likes and dislikes.
For someone who loves Travelling and seeing new things.
A person who blogs about travel should be the best person to follow as it would be easier to form a relationship with the person because their blog will naturally interest you and that's the fun of it.
Simply follow the person whose blog you'll enjoy reading.
Cause I don't see a reason you'll follow someone and not like what the person blogs about

You can follow the whales for example, musing is a whale account or like a whale account which helps other to get more account value and increase our reputation. You should follow account which has higher reputation and higher vote value and if you continuously write comments on any whales for 1-2 months there are chances the whale can target you and can give upvotes like 10-20$ even if you are in contact with him.
You should follow musing as well if you are working here to gets better upvotes and best following accounts. Steemit was made for blogging platform and today it is famous like many news concept are incoming same like steemit where users can get benefit from cryptocurrency.
You should follow some bots which are giving you some steem like 0.05$ or something on a regularly basis.

Pestering whales is not the way to go - harassment just brings you flags and downvotes.

You should always follow someone who is adding value to steemit.
First of all i prefer following some best witnesses so that you can get updated what is going on steemit.
Next you have to know about you passion. If you have a passion of photography then follow good photographers blog or if your are a tech lover then follow a guy who write often on tech.
You should often visit trending/hot for hunting good bloggers. And visit new section sometime.

Now the second part of the question.
Following best authors is one of the most need to success on steemit as their blog will make you know about steemit updates and will help you creating better content.

First off, to directly answer your question, some great bloggers are @dan10, @thedailysneak, and @arunava. They all post amazing content almost daily, with Dan10 providing ICO reviews, The Daily Sneak allowing you to find many other great content creators, and Arunava just being a friendly dude. The last two, The daily sneak and Arunava offer chances to make some money with them, and you can check out their blogs to learn more.

But no one can provide a list of people YOU should follow, since they aren't you. People will be picking and choosing their favorite bloggers, and while that's great and all, you might not always see the content you want to. So you have to put some work in yourself and find people you enjoy reading. Some great ways to discover new people are to take a scroll down the trending page and look into some topics you like, find someone you enjoy reading and look at their reblogged people and check them out, or just going to services like @TheDailySneak and @Qurator and reading their blogs, since they often include hand-picked excellent quality posts. Just get around, and look into what you enjoy reading about. Establish a community, ask the person you like reading if they know anyone else that creates content like them, and so on. Just explore, and interact with people, and you'll find people you enjoy reading.
