Stopped by my friend, Debbie's, last night as she was holding class.

They are working on a piece called Yankadi- Makru (it's spelled several other ways) for Steemit's #openmic. It is a rhythm that goes from slow and groovy to fast instantly many times and can be tricky in the transition. The rhythm is a dance of seduction mostly danced by the single youth because of the energy it takes when the rhythm speeds up but also serves as a chance for the young to mingle.

The last half of the class was spent learning Moribayassa. Here is a snippet of part of the rhythm. Debbie is showing the first accompaniment in this piece.

Have you looked around for live drumming to listen to? You may meet people who will teach you and possibly loan you a drum for the session.

They must really be taking their time working on that

They have had to cancel several classes because of weather, illness and adults that can get busy.
