Shindig Shop: Wind's Reply- LAST TUNE From 1994 CD 'Everything Must Go', with Links to Previous Tracks and Lyrics (Original Music)
First, I'd like to thank everyone who has been listening along to the CD so far, and I especially appreciate all of the comments related to the songs on these Shindig Shop posts. Your thoughtful comments on the previous posts here are already more input than I've ever received on this music, and it was recorded in 1994-- more than 23 years ago!
It has been a pleasure for me to present this collection of songs here, and to further preserve their lyrics here in the blockchain. The band never did much after this recording, and aside from a few reunion shows, Shindig Shop the band faded from the scene around Arkansas. The boxes of CDs that were retrieved from the studio fire have been buried in storage rooms, largely unheard until now.
Everything Must Go
*'Gossip' written by Mike Thomas, all others by Paul Burnham
Here then is track 10, a song called Wind's Reply. At first it seems sad and forlorn, but ends up joyful in the end.
Wind's Reply
So far away- only the wind replies, trying it's best to dry the tears of a friend
It's not for me. If I could change it now- people I want to see are so far away.
But listen- your soul cries out with joy if you'd only listen
And if we failed, we failed to hear the laughter, we failed to see the smile
So far away- only the wind replies, using the leaves to hide the tears of a friend
Down from the sky- don't you remember now?
We talked to birds just because they had the view.
But listen- your soul cries out with joy if you'd only listen
And if we failed, we failed to hear the laughter, we failed to see the smile
Ooh, I really like this one! Your vocals sound great. I love the lyrics too. You guys were just so good at setting a mood. Any chance you have the whole CD on MP3? Name your price, and I'll pay you in Steem.
I was listening to it, waiting for the vocals to sound bad to my ear, but yeah- I like the vocals on this song too. This one demanded a full spectrum of moods, from somber to happy all in one tune, our drummer's Zeppelin influence helped with those kind of dynamics and contrast.
If it's ok with you, I can send links to the dropbox of Mp3 versions in chat again, and if you want to donate to the cause I will accept, but I don't know a price to name for you, I just appreciate your interest and input on the music.
That works!
Ok check your chat-- thanks for your interest in the tunes!

This may be the most country one yet. I like it. It's a great ending to this auditory experience.
It has truly been an honor getting the chance to listen to this whole album. Thanks for engraving it to the STEEM blockchain, brother. I do hope that when we get the chance to meet there is still a CD that I could purchase from you haha!
I heard that country-ness too when I was uploading it, I think it's that floaty guitar at the beginning that does it. I've never been a big fan of country music, but I think it was a few Grateful Dead songs that made me think that I could like the sound of it. The trouble was that Shindig Shop was a rock band, with a guitarist and drummer who were from strictly rock and roll backgrounds, so when I wrote songs that had potential to be country songs, we made them into Shindig songs, for better or worse-- we just didn't know how to play country. I still don't really, and I've been playing with an outlaw country band for the last 5 years!
I'll give you a CD when I see you, I don't plan on selling them at this point, all of the packaging is slightly damaged on the ones I have left, but the discs will still play. Who knows though, maybe I'll have new ones printed some day!
If you ever come around to selling them on iTunes and it becomes a hit, you very well might!
wow that was excellent once again !!
Hey thanks for listening again!
Ohh, I think I have a favorite!
It's funny how the band has that seventies/eighties style except for you..makes you stand out as the cool member :)
Do you happen to have more than one copy of the CD? I'm thinking if you do I'll be pilfering that when we come.
I had a friend who was a hair stylist around this time-- I had been cutting my own hair for about 10 years, we both agreed that I was done with the long hair thing. I think my hair in this pic is Heath's work... he did a good job, even with me helping.
I do have a couple of CDs, with only slight damage to the packaging, I have to hang on to one for Jedau too!
