Metallica Death Magnetic Tour

This was the first heavy metal concert I have ever been to. Don’t get me wrong, I actually not too fond of heavy metal music, I think that 99.9% of the stuff out there is very difficult to perceive. However; Metallica is really on a league of their own, they have been a band that I have been listening to on and off since my high school years.

Accompanying me on this historical tour was my long-time friend Dan. We arrived at the venue at around 6:30pm and there was already a substantial crowd building up from the outside. Most of them were just mingling, buying foods and merchandise. I didn’t want to buy any merchandise because the only items they really had were shirts and I was never going to wear any of them. We walked into the venue at around 7pm.

Inside the dome it was only 1/2 full at the time, and supporting bands were playing. This place was already starting to get loud, so Daniel and I immediately put on our ear-plugs. The ear-plugs stayed on throughout the entire concert, because it was REALLY loud in there!!!

Anyhow, we managed to find a spot that was only about 5 meters away from the front row, and Metallica came on stage at around 8:20pm. The area we were in was packed. Daniel and Myself were constantly getting jammed up by fans and other people, most of them were okay but there were a few idiots that I felt like punching in the head at times.

Luckily for me, their stupidity was their own demise and our benefit. Those strange people eventually decided to try out crowd-surfing (where they get up and ride all the people on crowd. What we do as the crowd, we just move them up forward, and eventually security gets them and then they get escorted to the back of the line.. BYE BYE stupid person!!

Anyhow. The concert was GREAT, James, Kirk, Lars and Robert were all playing the quality to be expected. Irrespective of their ages, These guys really know how to work a crowd and play some good hard tunes. Here are some pictures taken from my G10 point and shoot camera from the night.

*Note: I almost lost my camera in about 20 minutes into the concert. An over-obsesed headbanger was getting a little bit too excited and whilst I was holding up my camera, He head-butted my arm from behind and it sent my camera out of my hand and flying about 1 meter behind me. Fortunately for me, it was a good person that caught my camera and he immediately gave it back.. Whew!!!!!! If it wasn’t for such a good person, I would not have been able to share these images with you.
