Oddly Timed Groove For My Fan
This is the type of shit that happens when I’m waiting for my road tax papers to come through so I can legally drive, it’s raining outside and I’ve had a few flabby pilsners.
I set up my imported from the states toy roto toms, a tourist chimey thing, some pan lids, the wooden frog block and some chop sticks. My only fan was dancing on the ceiling so I figured I’d give an odd time signature tribal thing a go.
It’s pretty loose with the tempo but I was in no mood for perfectionism so I suffered through it and maybe you have as well lol.
The crazy thing is in my head I now have quite a sophisticated fusion jam worked out that this nonsense approach inspired. I love odd time signatures and if you’re feeling froggy and can find the one you should be able to count it out to 7 for the most part.

Lol an actual crash cymbal ! in live performance there is always the risk of a train wreck and as you know there's no stopping to assess the damage.. Gotta roll on and if you can repeat it, that might be jazz haha!
I appreciate the Zappa approach, in an interview he was asked if he was a great guitarist and he replied that he has specialised in taking risks and making mistakes on an instrument that he has comprehension of the basic mechanics of. Playing the exact same guitar solo night after night is no different than punching a time clock and I'm a man that wants to do what I want to do and if you don't like it there's a long list of artists to choose from.. (paraphrasing)

The wildly eccentric Vai, ah yes, such a great guitar player, here is another one of my favorites out of the 80s.
Not that this really has anything to do with your comment, I just can't help but to place Malmsteen in this category of wildly eccentric guitarists emerging in the late 70s , early 80s. Truly mind blowing talent.
