Today's Selections
- Queen - Somebody to love (HD -live in Montreal)
Freddie has one of the best male voices of all time. This version of somebody to love shows Freddie's true gift. No filters, no auto-tune, just a guy who was born with the ability to absolutely sing like an angel.
Nobody could deliver meaning in their "speak" like Tupac could. I remember learning how to play this song on guitar and appreciating Tupac a tiny bit more. Was this foreshadowing or was he talking about what he thought was a forgone conclusion anyway?
They lyric - "Went upstairs and had a smoke" bothered a few people. This song is really hard to classify which is one of the reasons why it is epic. The verses sound like a typical beatles song - then it builds and build symphonically - finally it is resolved with a thumping bass.. an alarm clock restarts the singing and it finally ends in some soaring notes.
4)White Zombie - More Human Than Human
I haven't listened to this tune in a while. It seems the older I get the better or worse some music becomes (to my taste). This song is iconic -it brought back some memories.. Probably not for the pre 1970s crowd!
5)Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
Someone told me the other day that punk was the worst music ever made.. I think there were 2 decades afterward that proved that statement wrong. The Sex Pistols were all about rebellion. We wouldn't have had the Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine or others (like Nirvana) without their influence. This is the song they will always be remembered for.
