About three years ago, I visited my aunt in the city of Ilorin, Nigeria. This very day, as I stepped out of the house, about traversing down the stairs, a melodic sound dropped in my mind. Immediately, I took my phone and recorded the sound so I don't forget. Fulfilled was birthed!

Thoughts that preceded the song || My Approach to Songwriting

My approach to song writing is dynamic. Many a times, my songs come based on premeditated thoughts, rhetorical questions, subject matters about life, and most of all, the word of God contained in the Bible.
The song fulfilled, dropped as a result of premeditated thoughts that had lingered in my mind for months. These thoughts were triggered by late Dr. Myles Monroe whom I was privy to listen to before he passed on. He visited the city of Ibadan (Harvesters' Christian Center to be precise) where my abode is, and gave a scintillating message about purpose and living a life of fulfillment. I didn't attend the program, but I was privileged to get the message in mp3 format from a friend who attended the program. Upon listening to the message, I was stirred up. I was fired up. My resolve was strengthened.

Late Dr. Myles Monroe said:

One of the wealthiest parts of earth is the cemetery. Buried in the cemetery are books never written, music we never heard of, paintings no one has ever saw, businesses that never opened, inventions we never used. I want you to leave (this world) empty, with nothing else left to do because you’ve poured out all of your dreams, ideas, visions books, music, inventions, publications. Leave (this world) empty

These words by Dr. Myles Monroe gave me sleepless nights, so, I thought to interpret the message in music. As of when I had the thought of giving a sound to the message, there was no melody to the song. I had no idea how it'll sound, they were just premeditated thoughts.

The Cogitations of my heart

Many a times, men, women, boys and girls traverse the course of life without thinking of purpose. People come to this world with the sole aim of growing up, going to school, getting a degree, getting a job, getting married, give birth, grow old and pass on...the cycle goes on. No purpose, no impact, nothing but, a self centered life.

I needed a sound!

I needed a sound to interpret these predominant thoughts that had crowded my mind for long, then fulfilled popped up. When it dropped, I knew it was the sound, I was excited and elated. I began building the lyrics, the verse, the melody and the music as a whole. I took out time writing this song. I sampled the o pinon of friends on the choice of words and progression of the song. Each time I did this, the song got better. I had a great song that I didn't want any aspect of its delivery to be below par.

I got the sound!!

It was time to get the song produced, sequenced, and mixed, so, I beckoned on multiple award winning Loveworld Music & Arts Ministry's ace producer Kelly Lyon. The interpretation to the sound was nothing short of what I wanted, so, fulfilled was ready to be served!

The release

Booooooooommmmmmm!
On the 3rd of March 2017, we released the song "Fulfilled"!!
Guess What? Over 80% of major blogs in Nigeria announced the release of the song on their blogs!!!
The reception of the sound was massive. My phone suddenly became busy. From calls to messages, to chats, social media posts and write ups commending the impact that the sound had made, etc. I was awe-strucked. I couldn't hold tears each time get feed backs on the sound.

So, I did a quick google search today. I typed "Fulfilled - Marpe", above is what popped. The first page result of the search carries the song. All the hits are sites where the song was featured for downloads.

Of a truth, the impact is global

During the course of the release of the song, my team and I took out time to keep stock of the number of downloads recorded. As of December 2017, we had reached over 100,000 people with the song with over 21,000 downloads recorded. We recorded downloads, reviews and plays from all distant lands and countries. Indeed, the impact is global.

What has happened to me as a result of the song "Fulfilled"

Testimonies such as these bring tears to my face every other day, and I don't mince words when I say this. Fulfilled, for me is a hit song. The song opened doors for me, doors to programs, concerts, radio stations at home and abroad, connections, etc. I had the opportunity to perform the song at the prestigious Loveworld Festival of Music & Arts held in South Africa in the month of April 2017.

What's Next?

I've been about recording a lot more songs for my album due to be released later this year, but, truth is, the song "Fulfilled" puts me under pressure to deliver a better sound...yeah! I'm pressured but not perturbed. Also, we're working towards shooting the video of the song this year, so watch out for the release! By the way, I put out another single titled "Kileolese" in the month of November 2017. The song is also available for free download on dsound, do your best to stream and download as well.
