It has been a while since we have talked music business
So I wanted to jump back in with a big one! The GRAMMYS! I want to give a little bit of insight on the fact that becoming a part of the Grammys isn't impossible for local artists. In fact, this will give you a head start in your career.

When you hear the term grammy as a local musician you are already thinking it might be out of your league. I'm here to tell you that you are wrong. The grammys are an organization of musicians and people who work in music business including managers , talent agents, as well as recording engineers/producers. This is the place where they all collectively vote on who is the most deserving artist to win a grammy for the year. The grammys is a system of members who register to vote. So as a local you have to register.

How do I become a member?

It's actually quite simple. You need a fully recorded album of 6 to 12 songs and you need those songs being sold in distribution. Something along the lines of putting it on I tunes would be acceptable. So as long as you have 12 songs on I tunes you are able to register those songs to be voted for in the grammys. The registration fee is about a $125 you put in D information on how to find the . And within a few weeks you will be a registered voting member of the grammys. If you do not have music to input then you have no voting membership. You must have music in order to vote on other music. Therefore the grammys are chosen by others within the same industry. We choose our peers to win based upon Popular vote.

How do I get votes?

This is going to be the complicating task. I live in Texas. Within my region there are about 3000 to 5000 grammy members. Once you are registered within the grammys they will send you invites to meetings and concerts where other Grammy members can meet up and congregate. Within these meetings you can talk to artist from different genres and different areas of expertise and make agreements a vote on each other. This is how you will gain your 1st grammy votes on the ballot. Imagine going back to your friends are saying I got voted on the Granny ballot for the year.

Once you learn is system of gaining votes and gain more popularity it should be easier and more realistic for you to be of the see that when you grammy as possible for basically any artist.The artists with persistence in drive are the ones that are going to win. They're the ones that are going to go out to all the parties and gain votes. They're gonna have the charisma to be able to win that popular vote and compete to be Nominated. Being nominated for grammy is one of the highest achievements as a musician. Finding work after that should not be as hard. I hope this helps musicians out. If you do not have music to become a voting member feel free to join just as a general member to be able to attend the parties and functions. It is well worth it as an artist to join because you will be surrounded by those who have already conquered what you are trying to conquer. Learned from these people and they will teach you.
