Yes - South Side of the Sky

Yes are a major band

in Rock history. As one of the groups responsible for progressive rock, they influenced countless other acts for decades after, and pushed rock into new creative territories. The group was formed in 1968 by vocalist Jon Anderson, bass legend Chris Squire, keyboardist Tony Kaye, drummer Bill Bruford, and guitarist Peter Banks. The group had a bit of a resurgence in mainstream music in the 1980s, though their style had definitely changed since their early, more experimental days.

Listen to South Side of the Sky by Yes here.

This song is from their

legendary 1971 album Fragile, which includes the single Roundabout as the opening track. This song definitely shows their penchant for the Prog., with some really wild guitar tones, and all kinds of cool layering of interesting harmonies. They also have some really awesome rhythmic ideas here, with some pretty complex and intricate syncopation, particularly in the drums, though every instrument is doing something rhythmically wild at some point.

Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
