The Smiths ”Panic”
Another song from The Smiths! This is of course one of their most well-known tracks, but I still consider it a great one. While poppy, their lyrics always have a darkness running through them; “Hang the DJ”. The guitar is great on this track, and Johnny Marr’s exceptional songwriting ability always shines through. While he often writes amazingly intricate and original songs, he isn’t afraid of pop forms, which are often abandoned to the detriment of many bands trying to be original. If you do it right, pop songs are amazing. And of course, Morrissey's lyrics add a whole other level of intelligence, wit and poetry.
