This wasn't an official timed writing

Track 4, Strobe2 Melody
challenge, but I spent probably 15/20 minutes max on this as I was watching some TV, sort of spacing out. I initially intended this to be something entirely different; I started with the Ableton Session in 7/16, with the intent of writing something very rhythmic, and really using that odd meter, but it turned into something much spacier, which didn't really require this odd-meter, since there isn't really an obvious pattern, but it sort of worked out so I didn't bother altering the time signature once I was a few tracks in. Tracks 1 was where I began, playing a C for 8 bars then an F for another 8, then repeating. However, this instrument isn't tuned properly, so what you're hearing is an F down to a Bb, making the song in Fmajor. Track 2 outlines to big chords (Fadd9 and Bb13) with a sort of drum/log sound, one for each 8 bar section, but with an arpeggiator added, set to random. Track 3 just drones on low bass notes, sticking to our roots of F and Bb.

Track 2, Random Arpeggiator + Equator African Congalog

Track 4 uses one of the 'Pluck' synths from Strobe2, adding a

Track 6, Equator Amethyst Cave Pad
melody line of sorts. I added a few dissonances, including a Db, creating a bVi chord against the F at one point. Track 5 is an audio clip, recorded from one of the Newscool drum sets from Native Instruments' Komplete Start package, which turned out to be a little less bassy than intended, but at least it provides some rhythm for the second half of the song, making it stand apart, without really making the odd-meter super obvious. Track 6 uses a pad from the Equator library, pictured to the left here. This also helps outline that Db chord at the end of the first 8 bars, which turned out to be a good choice, as it makes the melody line feel much more intentional. Finally, we have Track 7, which was recorded from another Newscool kit. I added a super hi-pass EQ, dropping off the low end entirely, and then chopping up the audio clips and tuning them so they fit with the chords.

Hope you enjoy this random creation! Thanks for listening!
