My opinion about the album Otep "Kult 45"

Otep Shamaya is known for her many rebellious temper. First of all, this uncompromising and revelation is perfectly reflected in the songs of the nu-metal band Otep, where, you guessed it, she is the vocalist.

I always liked the music of these rockers. It aggressive, uneven (in a good way) and alive. When you listen to their songs for the first time, you can not understand nothing, but if you like heavy music - Otep sooner or later will return to you.

Rumors about the new studio-album were for a long time. Since when president of the United States was elected Trump, Otep Shamaya began to express her angry position against this decision. The idea of this disagreement lay down in the concept of the album "Kult 45". I'll rip the beginning of the citation:

On "Kult 45" wait for a complete and total uprising of feelings.

In fact, the album was far from perfect and definitely does not correspond to the level of the group. In some ways, this is an immature work that could be forgiven for a team that does not have seven full-length records in its assets.

When the performer goes against the system and urges the people to act, you feel this energy and accept the messege almost from the first song. Take the same Rage Against The Machine. In "Kult 45" these very attempts of disagreement are traced, but they are so cheesy that you cease to believe by the middle of the longplay. It seems that even the participants themselves do not understand what they are doing at all.

The eighth album has partially returned to the canons of the band. Otep's first works were mega-powerful and furious. True nu-metal with all the nastiness and delights. And if the musicians really followed their promises or desires now, their Kult would be more popular even the debut album "Sevas Tre".

Music partely taken from their first works, a bunch of rap-core and primitive in the texts. The feeling that the guys were listening to the first studio recordings and on the run were making music / lyrics for new ones. I hoped that cover of "Body Count" and trying to imitate the aforementioned RATM save this situ. But the song is below the average.

In general, you can listen to the album solely for the sake of nostalgia for nu-metal, which is still partially left in the band's music.
