Let's Dream On

in #music6 years ago

This song Steven Tyler began composing at seventeen, a few years before the creation of Aerosmith. The musician himself said that he did not intend to create anything serious - it was just a small sonnet, which he often played to himself.

He showed "Dream On" to colleagues, but Aerosmith members were against playing it at concerts. As Joe Perry says (guitarist of the band himself) said, at the beginning of the way they tried to achieve fame by live performances. It was necessary to play rock'n'roll, to create a show on stage, and there was no concert time for lyric songs. In began they basically performed for 20-30 minutes.

However, the potencial of the power ballad did not pass by. Aerosmith included the song in the set and for the first time performed it in 1971. Later, the musicians decided to leave the composition on the self-titled debut studio album "Aerosmith" in 1973. Before the song was released as the second single and climbed to Billboard 100, taking a modest 59th line. In her native Boston, she became one of the most popular songs of the region.

The listeners liked beautiful words, saying that one should never forget to dream. It is necessary to remember the dream until it becomes a reality. Take the risk and act, do not be afraid to lose - and then you will succeed. It's a song for all ages and under any mood.

Released the first album was selling lousy, in Columbia Records already on the sly decided to roll up deal and cut off contacts with Aerosmith. But "Dream On" unexpectedly for all became very popular, and the disk itself flew to the Billboard on the 21st line. A couple of years the single was re-released.

Tyler himself once said that this is the only of eight songs in the album "Aerosmith", which he performed in his "own" voice, that is, it was opened in it completely. The frontman did not like his own voice on the record, so he tried not to sing at full strength. Here it is perfectly audible how wide its range is. Until now, only a few vocalists are able to cope with his party in "Dream On".

The covers for this composition are many. Recently there was even released a tribute album with 28 versions, including the version of Anastacia, the rock band Cold and many others. A shaky tribute, which is a shame to listen to. But there were interesting things on it, in particular the young and promising band Blacktop Mojo.

"Dream On" they turned out really that ballad, what it should be. Vocalist Matt James excellently sang the part of Tyler. I will not say that the song is better than the original, but the guys could revive the music, for which they are sincerely grateful.

Listen to beautiful music and do not forget to dream!
