A review of IK Multimedia's Amplitube amplifier simulator plugin, via Pastel Sonic, my new music production page on Instagram. If you need a beat, a mix, or help with songwriting or arrangement please leave a comment or hit me up on Instagram! I look forward to working with you.
There are a lot of reasons you might need am amp simulator. Maybe you’re recording in a tiny bedroom in an apartment building and it’s just totally impractical to actually plug in your Dual Rectifier. Maybe you need to re-amp something someone sent you, because all you have is their DI and a “mic” track that sounds like it was done backwards through a potato. Maybe you just like the versatility and endless possibilities of a plugin like IK Multimedia’s Amplitube. Whatever the case, Amplitube consistently takes the cake when it comes to the most important sonic characteristics of an amp sim. No one is actually sure what those sonic characteristics are, but guitarists around the internet will tell you that short of dropping thousands of dollars for Axe-FX, Amplitube is the best you can do for **TONE** in the virtual world.
Amplitube comes pre-loaded with some great models of everything from the Roland Jazz Chorus to the Vox AC30, but it also features add-ons that can be downloaded from their “Custom Shop”, including lines by the likes of Fender, Marshall and Jet City amps. It also has a great array of modeled pedal effects, rack inserts both before and after the amp and cabinet, and an impressive number of room, cabinet, and mic models. Worth it for any guitarist or producer.
